Grupo Piñero already operates 100% of its infrastructure in the cloud | clouds

Grupo Piñero moved 100% of its infrastructure, a project in which Logicalis was its partner. As Mateo Ramón, CIO of the Tourist Group explains, “We are seasonal and need resources based on demand. For this, it is critical that we have a flexible infrastructure that allows us to freely access any type of technology on the market without having to have to go through procurement, procurement and start-up stages.

The company therefore adopted a hybrid model that would allow it to deploy the necessary IT services, which included the replacement of the four data centers it had in Spain so far.

The migration project was done in two phases: the first was to migrate everything into containers and the second was to move those payloads and the rest of the services to Microsoft Azure. In addition, applications have been updated using OpenShift technology from Red Hat. This has allowed them to have greater flexibility, cost variability, differential time to market and an infrastructure able to adapt to peak demand. As Pablo Carrillo, Sales Director of Logicalis explains, it was a complex initiative, “with many implications for the business, and which required a very detailed and in-depth design of an objective solution. Under no circumstances can we interrupt the service that Grupo Piñero lends to its users, so the Implementing it in such difficult times and without any kind of interruption was quite a challenge.”

This ambitious project has seen Grupo Piñero achieve a flexible infrastructure, allowing it to adapt cost and workloads to peak tourism demand. In addition, its main sales channel, which is online, was the first to benefit from this scalability, as by launching specific campaigns it can adapt its infrastructure to this peak in demand.

According to the company’s CIO, “Our ultimate goal is to have an end-to-end infrastructure that will allow us to obtain real-time information about processes, thereby facilitating their analysis and verification, thereby improving their speed and effectiveness.”
